Endeavour Refit By Yachting Developments
< Back to Marine Industry Case StudiesIn 2010, the iconic J Boat Endeavour was proudly re-launched. The extensive 18-month refit was completed by Yachting Developments.
J Class yachts are widely accepted as some of the most beautiful sailing yachts ever built.
The Endeavour is no exception, the finished result is a truly stunning classic yacht.
Endeavour, the second of her class built by aeroplane manufacturer Sir T.O.M Sopworth. Raced for the America’s Cup in the 1930s, she unsuccessfully challenged for the Auld Mug in 1934.
During the countdown to WWII she was neglected. It was not until she was owned by Elizabeth Meyer that she underwent an extensive refit from 1984 to 1989. When she was relaunched, Endeavour was the largest privately-owned yacht in the world.
Since then 214,000 nautical miles have slipped beneath her keel, and by 2010 was ready for New Zealand’s Yachting Developments to retore her back to her former glory.
